Explore the Tuscany Region During an Adventurous Vacation in Italy

I recently visited Tuscany while in Italy and fell in love with food, wine,  history and culture. Here are a few tips to help you navigate your way through Tuscany.

The Tuscany region may be popular, but as you probably know, it is competing with the rest of the Italian countryside.  While you may be hesitant to put this area on your travel bucket list, let me assure you that everything you will see and do in this part of Italy will be worth every second you spend there.

One of the first things you must do while in Tuscany is explore the many different wineries and vineyards.  There are simply too many to count, but Castiglion del Bosco, Castello di Ama, Castello di Nipozzano, Capezzana, and Antinori must be on your list.  While it is best to do a wine tour, you can easily travel to each one of these wineries, as you explore the rest of this region.

Over in Florence, you can spend days wandering through all the museums, but then you won’t have as much time for the aforementioned wine trips.  You can choose to see the best of the best though with stops at the Galleria degli Uffizi, Museo di San Marco, and the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo.  Make sure you spend a little extra time at the massive David sculpture, which can be found at the Accademia.

Most people make a quick trip to Pisa, to see the leaning tower, and then continue on to an area of the region that has much more to do.  Siena is an excellent option, because you can easily sit in a local trattoria and dine on Tuscan cuisine.  Add a bottle of your favorite new wine and watch the locals go about their lives.  Before you leave, you must wander through Piazza del Campo and see the Torre del Mangia.

Relaxing is a must when exploring the Tuscany region and there is no better place to do it than Montecatini Terme.  This is one of the best spa areas in the entire country and it is known for its thermal waters.  It is best if you choose a day’s worth of treatments, because you will not want to stop after the first one.
San Gimignano should be one of your last stops while visiting the Tuscany region.  There are fourteen medieval towers in this charming hill town, and you will be amazed with the breathtaking views when you see them from the distance.

There is so much to do within Tuscany and it is not possible to fit it all in during a couple of days.
Therefore, you must explore this area separately from the rest of Italy or make sure that you are taking at least a month to see everything this country has to offer.
